Yugoslavian Red Butterhead Lettuce
This red leafed lettuce is a stunner in the garden and on the plate. This variety forms buttery soft heads that can be 10 inches across. Tolerates cool soils so it can be sewn early and enjoyed in the late spring adn through the Summer. I love to harvest a big butterhead, cut it in half, sprinking some toppings like fresh herbs, pepitas, or sesame seeds, then dress with a creamy dressing and YUM! Summer lettuce goodness.
Direct seed or transplant after first frost, planting every 2-3 weeks until the heat of summer. Replant again in late summer/early fall for winter greens. Yugoslavian Red will head up for October harvests. 55 days to maturity.
