This dusky red flat topped Italian heirloom onion is my favorite all around onion to grow.  They store all winter and into the Spring if you don’t eat them all!  The flavor is perfectly pungent but not overwhelming and we eat them both raw and cooked.  They are very reliable, growing to baseball size and larger.  For best results, start onions in February and transplant out in March in loamy rich soil.  Water evenly and regularly throughout the summer.
