Graceful Mix Sweet Pea
Lathyrus odoratus
My mom has taught me to always have sweet peas in your garden. She is a wonderful flower grower and has always grown stunning sweet peas to cut and give away. The fragrance melts me and I look forward to them every year. This mix contains a wide range of colors from white to dark and lavender purples to reds and pinks perfect for a beautiful bouquet. Sweet Peas need a trellis - this variety grows to 5' tall.
Sweet peas can be a challenge to germinate but once they get going they are tough. Increase germination by nicking the seed coat then pre-sprout indoors by soaking in a wet paper towel. Finally, sow in pots to transplant or plant the presprouted seeds. Alternately, direct sow in cool soils of late February/March. Give them time and they will typically sprout on thier own out in the garden. Sow ½” deep and thin to 4”.
