Darlaine Soup Pea
A bush type pea grown not for the fresh green pods but for the dry pea inside. They grow about 2 feet tall and need no trellising as they support each other well. Harvest when pods are brown and peas inside are dry-meaning you can't dent them with your thumbnail. The taste is a lovely creamy addition to soups or stews all winter long. Dry peas are a wonderful home grown protein source that dry down easily in our Pacific Northwest climate.
Plant in early Spring with the rest of your peas. Thin to 4". They need little if any irrigation. 110 days to dry pea
