Darlaine Soup Pea
$4.50Price
Pisum Sativum
A bush type pea grown not for the fresh green pods but for the dry pea inside. They grow about 2 feet tall and need no trellising as they support each other well. Harvest when pods are brown and peas inside are dry-meaning you can't dent them with your thumbnail. The taste is a lovely creamy addition to soups or stews all winter long. Dry peas are a wonderful home grown protein source that dry down easily in our Pacific Northwest climate. This variety was a favorite of my seed mentor Lotus.
Plant in early Spring with the rest of your peas. Thin to 4". They need little if any irrigation.
