I grow this as an annual in our climate though in warmer regions it is a perennial. Grows up to 4 feet tall. Originally from Africa, Ashwaganda grows well in tropical regions. Plants prefer full-I grow mine in a hoop house but other NW growers grow them outdoors. The roots are a highly prized medicinal herb in the Ayurvedic tradition.
Sowing instructions: Ashwaganda is in the Solanaceae family with tomatoes and other nightshades. I start them indoors in April to transplant in a hoophouse in May. I get a large root harvest in the fall.
